For journalists seeking media accreditation to attend and cover Authors Night, please review the new media credential guidelines (click the link above) and return the request form no later than August 1, 2019. The media credential process has changed from prior years. Due to space constraints, a limited number of media credentials are available.
A Special Note About Photo Agencies, Blogs, Websites and Freelance Journalists
We regret that due to space constraints, we can not always grant media credentials to photo agencies, freelance journalists, bloggers, and small websites. Your application will be evaluated based on our analysis of your site’s ranking and traffic statistics, and the reach of your associated social media platforms. Freelance journalists should be on assignment to cover Authors Night for an established media outlet. Please provide the name and contact information of the editor you are working with, so that we may verify your assignment.
General Event Information:
WHAT: East Hampton Library’s 15th Annual Authors Night
WHEN: Saturday, August 10, 2019
5:00 – 7:30 pm: Authors Reception Cocktail Party; 8:00 pm: Private Dinners at area homes
WHERE: To be announced
WHY: Authors Night is a lavish fundraiser to benefit the East Hampton Library. All proceeds go directly to the Library.
Beginning in 2005 with a handful of dinners and a few hundred attendees, Authors Night has grown to be the premier literary event of the Hamptons and one of the nation’s leading literary celebrations, with over 100 authors and more than 2,000 people in attendance.
The evening begins with a lively cocktail reception, where guests enjoy fabulous hors d’oeuvres and wine while they meet the authors, buy their books and have them inscribed. The most recent titles for each author are available for purchase at the event.
From there, the evening continues as guest authors discuss their most recent books at dinner parties held in private homes throughout the East Hampton area. Guests purchase tickets to attend each dinner with the proceeds going to the library as a donation. Past years have seen up to 30 parties with more than 600 dinner guests.
Tickets are $100 for the book signing reception only, and begin at $300 for the dinners (includes entry to book signing cocktail reception).
